INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Hall of Champions will host the seventh annual Stay in Bounds Golf Open, Monday, June 18 at the The Hawthorns Golf and Country Club in Fishers, Indiana.
Former NCAA student-athletes and local sports personalities and officials have accepted invitations to play 18 holes of golf to help raise awareness and additional support for the NCAA Stay in Bounds program. The NCAA Hall of Champions hosts the tournament each year in the Indianapolis region.
Those playing in the 2007 Stay In Bounds Open include former Ohio State basketball student-athlete and current network broadcaster Clark Kellogg; two-time U.S. Olympian Bob Kennedy; former Indiana University basketball student-athlete and NBA player Quinn Buckner; Purdue University women’s basketball coach Sharon Versyp; former Indiana football student-athlete and Indianapolis Colt Ken Dilger; former Boston University football student-athlete and Indianapolis Colt Bill Brooks; former Purdue University football student-athlete, Indianapolis Colt and NCAA staff member Mark Herrmann; former Purdue University basketball coach Gene Keady and former University of Louisville basketball coach Denny Crum.
The NCAA Stay in Bounds program, which has been in existence since 2001, focuses on the character development of youth in elementary and high school by stressing good sportsmanship, responsible behavior and the enjoyment of healthy competition and cooperation. The guiding values of the Stay in Bounds program are called RICHER principles, which center on respect, integrity, caring, harmony, excellence and responsibility in the school systems and the communities where the youth live.
